History Camp for Kids

 

Look for an updated History Camp for Kids in Spring 2027 — we’re dusting off the butter churns, polishing the gold pans, and getting ready to welcome young historians back next summer. Due to staffing challenges, we weren’t able to run camp in 2026, but we’re already looking forward to the joyful chaos of curious kids, messy crafts, and enthusiastic time‑traveling adventures in 2027.

 

When school is out, fun is in at the Golden Museum’s History Camp for Kids. Our week‑long summer camps invite children ages 6 to 12 to step into the past through hands‑on activities, outdoor adventures, and creative play rooted in local history. It’s the kind of camp where learning sneaks up on you — disguised as games, experiments, and the occasional sticky situation involving homemade butter.

 

Each day brings something new to discover. Kids might find themselves making historic crafts, playing old‑fashioned games, or heading behind the scenes at the museum to see how history is cared for. Past campers have churned butter the old‑fashioned way, panned for gold like early prospectors, explored pioneer life, and even “dug up dinosaurs” (the safe, museum‑approved kind). There’s always something unexpected, something hilarious, and something that sends everyone home a little dusty and very happy.

 

History Camp is where imagination meets heritage — and we can’t wait to bring it back in 2027.
